From director Coralie Fargeat is the biggest sensation of body horror 2024 has to offer. The Substance premiered at Cannes earlier this year before playing Midnight Madness at TIFF. The story follows a fading celebrity who decides to use a black-market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself. The film stars Margaret Qualley, Demi Moore, and Dennis Quaid.
